Is Glen Powell and Twisters
Summer and I'm Here For It
Brat summer? yes, Glen Powell summer? absolutely.
Maybe you've known him since Set It Up (I do) or Top Gun Maverick, or perhaps you've only recently discovered him, but regardless of how long his name has crossed your lips there's no denying that Glen Powell has been stealing hearts and sighs left and right especially since his latest rom-com Anyone But You which by the way is hilarious and will probably make you make you kick your feet in the air, that's of course if like me you're also a woman (or dude( with a taste for guys like Glen and feel-good romance movies.
Now over a half year later after his cheeky, flirty and humorous role along with the charming Sydney Sweeney, Glen is back to expand his range as an actor and well, his heart-throb reputation. His most recent movie Twisters premiered this July and this time his co-star is Daisy Edgar Jones —Hollywood's new It Girl– with whom he has great chemistry throughout the entire movie, something the audiences are loving along with the plot, cinematography and the other components of the film; but if we're being honest if you search "Glen Powell" on X or other social media platform you'll mostly find spectacular edits of him alone or with Daisy.
If you're reading this there's a 99% probability that: a) you enjoyed the movie so much you are now a Twisters and cowboy enthusiast, b) you were starstruck and infatuated by Glen's character c) you were in awe of how good he looks on screen d) all of the previous choices. There's also a 1% chance you feel the other way around and are just looking for articles about this dude just to get pissed and dislike him more because you don't understand why people like him but anyways, let's talk more about Glen.
Throughout the 122 minutes of Twisters the 35-year-young born and raised Texan has proven to be an actor of both great skills and talent, and when I say this I speak not only from a "wow Glen Powell is so handsome, I can't-" POV but also from an objective one, sincerely. As someone who has watched most of his preceding films but didn't thought much about his characters, I can say that this time he really showcased his ability to embody a role that communicates his emotions and connects with the audience wholly.
It's not only his great connection with Daisy that has captivated so many viewers because there's no denying of that –the whole internet agrees with comments such as "this guy... he could have chemistry with a brick"– but also his expressions, emotions and overall the way he carries himself as Tyler, a darling cowboy who's very smart, kind, caring, witty and manly. Who wouldn't fall for a man like that?
If you take those features in mind plus the fact that he seems to be that way in real life it's just unbearable, but in a good way of course. Glen comes across as a man who's not only tremendously passionate about what he does but also very much enjoys family time, stands firm in his values, is funny and 100% himself, cares for both humans and animals (he's little dog Brisket is a rescue) and of course, is very good looking. For me at least, all those attributes are what makes him so appealing and why I wouldn't think twice if he asked me out.
Although I no longer put celebrities in a pedestal, for me to know that even though it's not often that you find them in person, knowing that the world does have these kinds of guys somewhere out there (perhaps in Texas?) is comforting, so I'm happy this is Glen Powell's summer and I'm totally here for it. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him as he continues developing and showing his talents with the world, and I look forward to it!
